APPLICATION PERIOD FOR GRADE 1 & GRADE 8 LEARNERS

Applications for 2024 learners admissions start on 11 July at 8:00 and ends on 12 August 2024 at 24:00 (regulation 5(1)).

Parents upload or submit supporting documents to all schools applied to within days after application.

14 OCTOBER 2024 – UNTIL ALL LEARNERS ARE PLACED

PLACEMENT OF UNDOCUMENTED APPLICATIONS

15 NOVEMBER 2024 – UNTIL ALL LEARNERS ARE PLACED

 

Please monitor our website as well as social media (radio & TV) for updates from the Department of Education.

The Department of Education’s placement process is done using these five criteria:

  • List 1: Living within the school’s feeder zone
  • List 2: Siblings/ Feeder Primary schools
  • List 3: Working in school’s feeder zone
  • List 4: Living within 30km from school
  • List 5: Living outside 30km

Placements are done automatically by the GDE online system. Everyone on List 1 “Living within school’s feeder zone” is placed first before moving on to any other lists.

Since this is an external GDE system, all queries must be directed to: gdeinfo@gauteng.gov.za | 0800 000 789 | 011 355 0000.

Required Documents

Once you have filled in all the required information on the GDE online system, you will be required to upload the following documents to the GDE online system. This must be done in order for the application to be finalised correctly on their system.

Failure to upload the below documents will influence your application.

Please save these documents separately to your PC before you start the process.

  1. Certified copy of unabridged birth certificate
  2. Certified copy of latest school report
  3. Certified copy of parent ID (The parent who is applying)
  4. Water and Lights account not older then 3 months or Rental agreement accompanied by the landlords certified ID and utility bill in the landlord's name
  5. Letter of employment (if applying based on working in feeder zone)

Once you have submitted your application, we will be able to access the information in order to do verifications.

NB: No manual applications at the school.

Placement

NB: Admission to the school is strictly according to the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) regulations.

The status will remain “Application being processed” until placement is finalised.
