SPORT AT KES
" The history and legacy of the sporting achievements of our sportsmen, while at KES and beyond, when they stepped up to provincial and national colours, is legendary."
The one hundred year history of sport at King Edward VII School comprises a rich tapestry of sporting triumphs (tempered by disappointing defeats). Certainly the victories outweigh the losses, but the credo of 'competing being more important than winning' has always been at the core of the School ethos across decades of sporting achievements.
All the young sportsmen who participated in the thirteen sporting codes offered at the school, have worn the King Edward colours with pride and the glorious memories of inter-school victories have remained with our Old Boys long after they left the School.
The 'mens sana in corpore sano' ('a healthy mind in a healthy body') concept, coupled with the educational benefits of competing in sport and learning to take life’s knocks, both physical and emotional, has ensured that sport will always play a very important role in the School’s educational activities.
KES EASTER FESTIVAL IS BACK
The iconic KES Easter Festival showcases the finest rugby and hockey school talent. The Festival was watched live by thousands and just as many on-line. After a 2-year hiatus, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the highly competitive and much-anticipated 2022 Festival returned to a very appreciative audience.
We limited attendance to 2,000 spectators, who were required to present proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test within the past 72 hours.
