"The School has a reputation for excellence in this sport. Rugby contributes towards the collective pride and spirit amongst the boys and is a major catalyst for building teamwork, fairness and loyalty."

At King Edward VII School we strive to play an attractive brand of rugby that will bring positive results. We have always been known for playing attacking rugby with the balance of a good defensive system as well. We take pride in expressing ourselves on the field and represent our School with aplomb.

The rugby programme at King Edward VII School has proven successful over the past 10 years. This has been through hard work and commitment from both the coaches and the players. This is evident by the number of provincial and national players we have been able to produce over the last decade.

We take pride in the number of teams that participate across the age groups. We can field an A to F team in every age group and up to a 7th Team in the open age groups.  The School currently fields 24 sides which facilitates approximately 360 boys to participate in rugby fixtures each week. The U14 age group typically has up to a “G” side, which is a good reflection on the depth of talent available to the School. More importantly, all of these boys are enjoying the benefits of team work as well as the camaraderie that is associated with a sport like rugby.
